As of January 1, 2020, a reserve fund study provider in Alberta must be a qualified person. The recognized qualifications are:
- A professional engineer
- A professional technologist
- A registered architect
- A certified reserve planner accredited by the Real Estate Institute of Canada
Beyond professional qualifications, reserve fund study providers must also be knowledgeable about the condominium's property history and experienced in understanding the costs and time associated with replacing or maintaining the property.
